I love November in Portland. This month, even more than October, embodies the richness and contradictions of autumn. It’s when you first start to really feel the cold, dark and rain of winter. Both the ground and the trees are vibrant with red and yellow leaves. There are still a few late blossoms. The sun still shines sometimes. The markets are full of squash and kale. November is the last glorious gasp before the quiet, minimalist winter.
These are some photographs I took on one of November’s last sunny days, walking through the SE Clinton neighborhood. It’s a great place for an autumn stroll.
