Autumn Walks: Ladd’s Addition

For my final installment of October’s autumn walks series, I’d like to introduce you to, or perhaps reacquaint you with, Ladd’s Addition, one of Portland’s oldest and most beautiful neighborhoods. Lined by American Elm trees and some of the city’s most beautiful old houses, the Ladd’s Addition neighborhood is flanked by SE 12th, SE Hawthorne, SE 20th, and SE Division. Ladd runs in a diagonal street pattern instead of a grid, with four diamond circles, each filled with a test rose garden. It’s a wonderful place for a stroll or a bike ride, and in the fall, it’s absolutely stunning.
